My Father had been missing for 16yrs. He had been sent here to the Radius Rimu Rest home by a local hospital with a diagnosis that he had 28 days to live. Because of the wonderful and Loving care they gave him he lived another 2 yrs. He had been especially fond of the chef! When my Father passed away it was one of the staff and a dear friend of my Dad's that cared enough to try and look for his Family. They found my Brother on 'Facebook' and contacted him about Dad's death. My Brother and I are forever grateful to all the staff including the Head Chef who I understand my Dad was very fond of, and the Head Matron for the time, care and help they all went through to look after my Father. From the hugs I recieved when we arrived to see where Dad had been living these last few yrs, I was overwhelmed by the love they held for my Dad. To have finally been able to find him even at such a time, it was a blessing to know he was cared for so well and not alone in his last yrs.

I am absolutely disgusted at the poor level of care being given to my sister - in -law at this facility. She is dying, is in pain and is not being given adequate pain relief for her condition. My niece and I were there for several hours last week, during which time, she was not turned, given any mouth cares or pressure area cares and no Registered Nurse bothered to pop in to check her condition. I have seen the pain in her face and believe me, I know pain when I see it. I have been a nurse for most of my life and would be deeply ashamed to think that anyone in my care was treated this way. The manager has been disrespectful to my niece who has travelled up from Christchurch to see her dying mother. Driving up from Auckland this time , on her own and will have to drive back on her own after her mother passes away. A person in the position of Manager should be able to cope with upset relatives, without shutting them down and ending the conversation, because he does not like what they are saying. I have personally run two similar facilities and always made time to take peoples concerns on board and resolve things in a reasonable way. My niece is grieving for her Uncle at the moment, as well as seeing her mother going through this terrible time and I consider this to be totally unacceptable. I would like a response from your CEO within seventy two hours please.

I would like to thank all of the staff at Rimu Park. The care that they gave my father in law was above and beyond. I can not speak highly enough of them. I will certainly be telling all of my friends who are looking for care for their loved one to go and see them.

My parents visited from Tauranga recently where they owned a rest home for 15yrs. They both commented on how smart and fresh the place was looking, How wonderful the “Daffodil Day” celebrations were organized, how friendly the staff were and how the place had “ a lovely, happy, homely feel”. They had visited in Feb 2018 and could not believe the “spruced up” feel the place had. Kirsty Robertson CNM

Shocked at the poor level of care not being given to my mum and the lack of understanding from management.
