Our Mum had a fall today & broke bone in wrist, A&E put her through straight away & the Doctors & Nurses that attended to her are fantastic. She was well cared for from the minute we got there till the time we left. Thank you all.

Ive gotta say my treatment at the Hospital was 1st class on my two unfortunate needs to be there, lol. BUT ! they should not be charging people good money for such a pitiful excuse for a car park, its been a major issue for far too long now and whoever is responsible for the hospital parking has failed. [maybe time to retire] and give the job to a new go getter.

Will never knock the medical staff or the service they give, it's great, but finding a park space at this Hospital is an absolute nightmare. Not only that, you drive around for ages in the car park looking for a vacant spot. In the meantime, using up your gas in doing so, probably have security eyes on you, in case you park in the wrong place???? why are we paying for parking ( quite happy to pay costs no matter the length of time spent here) if it's not to increase parking availability.

The staff, from the cleaning people to the doctors, are all really nice, helpful, caring, and professional. So from that standpoint, Whangarei hospital is great. However, I am giving the hospital only 3 stars because of the age and disrepair of the facility. I would guess the current building dates back to the 1940's? Not really sure, but it's old. This gives me the feeling that it isn't clean. I'm not saying they don't do a great job with cleaning, but the age of the surfaces make things look grimy, grey and sad. Considering this is the only hospital for the entire Northland (I'm not including Kensington as that's private and only surgical), you would think they could have kept up with it better over the years. I am aware that they have started a new construction project. They are building a new wing. But I feel that the whole hospital needs updating. Whangarei hospital is an old girl and it's showing... The fact that it is showing it's age in this way, leaves me feeling like, what else have they neglected? Again, I'm not saying that this is the case, it's just how the look of the hospital makes me feel. It would be nice if they could remodel the entire place or just tear down and start over. I have had nothing but good experiences here. Like I said above, the entire staff are really great. I know the level of care is very competent, so no worries about any of that. I would give 5 stars if they were to take care of some of these issues. In no way am I saying this hospital is a bad one. It's not, it's just old and I'm funny about how a hospital should look.
