Truly amazing gardens with a huge biodiversity on show. Everywhere you looked was a different species. The Arid Gardens were a treat for cactus and succulent lovers. Plenty of very well maintained trails. Could easily spend several hours here.

Excellent place very near the city centre I had the chance to visit the Whangarei Quarry Gardens twice during my week-long stay at Whangarei. Both these visits were an hour long. The gardens are very near the city, have plenty of parking, have a good variety of walks and tracks. Entry is free but donations/ koha is welcome and appreciated. Highly recommended for everyone who likes nature.

A great place for all ages to visit. You can meander around the paths and look at amazing plants, along with sculptures or be adventurous and climb up a winding Bush trail and view the lake and waterfall from above. Plenty of camera shots available as are resting places if you need it. There is a cafe on site but only open Wednesday to Sunday. Highly recommend a visit if you're in town.
