Going out with Avon and Michaela to Mercury Island was one of my most favourite experiences ever. We had the most gorgeous weather, got to swim in crystal clear water and had so much fun sailing on Windborne. The food Michaela made was just SO delicious (a proper, big lunch!) and we really did not need to bring any food or drink with us at all. Michaela and Avon are just such great people and will tell you lots of interesting stories about their travels at sea. Mercury island is such a special place, the boat is an incredible piece of history and we had the best company. Thank you so much Avon and Michaela! We will come again!

Guys! THIS EXPERIENCE IS A MUST TO DO! We booked a day trip to Mercury Island. As soon as we stepped on the boat we could feel the energy. Whad a quick safety briefing, they introduced them selfs and asked around who we are and where we are from. Was a little group 9 people. And Avon the Captain and Mihaela his partner in life and also on the sailboat. We ramped out from the harbor and we got a such a lovely snack and coffee, tea. Was beautiful weather (bit windy but this is the best for this type of activity). We hd a lot of laughs and we heard a lot of stories. When we arrived to Mercury Island we saw a beautiful small bay. They explained the history of the island. Was funny to see how the others jumping into the ocean from the boat. After we got a delicious lunch (wow fantastic smoked king fish, salads, chicken, fresh bread, drinks and fruits) after the Captain took us with a “dingy” to the shore. We had few hours to enjoy the beach beach before sailing back to Witianga. On the way we got some afternoon snack. Guys! 100% I had lot of activities around NZ but this was the best day! Avon is the power, the knowledge and Mihaela is the heart of this company! Congratulations guys! You are doing something really beautiful things! I am glad that we could try and enjoy it.

My wife and I along with some friends spent a day (6 hour trip) around the bays. We were able to swim, eat and sail on a beautiful Sunday in February. I thoroughly encourage anyone who would love a peaceful trip on this 1928 Schooner to speak to Avon about the options available.

This was truly a wonderful day out on the sea with the most charming and charismatic hosts, Avon and Mikaela. Authentic, fun and entertaining, they are local indigenous knowledge bearers and no doubt, like us you will be swept away by this uplifting experience and luxury of sailing on such a magnificent boat. Thank you for an unforgettable day on board "Windborne" and for renewing our hearts and appreciation for Mercury Bay, (Te-Whanganui-a Hei, the great bay of Hei).

We thoroughly enjoyed our day sailing with Avon and Michaela. My first time sailing under the wind - I would say would have to be one of the best and memorable holiday events ever. The schooner was beautifully restored and maintained, the charm of "yesteryear" sailing was amazing as was their hosting, sailing and entertaining. Thank you both for a lovely and memorable experience .

I had a fantastic trip on the beautiful gaff rigged schooner ‘Windborne’ out to Greater Mercury island. We were hosted so well by Avon and his partner Mikaela. Avon is a very interesting and knowledgeable skipper with lots of stories to tell and a great sense of humour. Mikaela provided a very tasty meal and snacks throughout the day which had obviously been prepared with care, and were of a standard much higher than other similar trips that I have been on. Although there was no wind on the trip out, a sea breeze got up in the afternoon and we had a lovely sail home. I am left with great memories and would absolutely recommend this trip which I thought was good value for money.
