Really lovely treck. The dam and views are stunning the whole walk. It is a bit step and gives your legs a good workout but its very rewarding and would definitely do it again just with the amazing platform at the end overlooking the lake and Queenstown.

Nice bush walk. If coming from queenstown, it’s on the left you have to open a gate and close behind you. We didn’t know that and ended up parking a bit further on the right side. Added a few hundred meters to the walk. Really nice views and the track is pleasant. Challenging enough not to be boring (except the very beginning) but my knees weren’t saw after, which they always get. Recommend the stop!

The entrance to this track is not very discernible from the highway. The turnoff is just a small sandy/gravel space that fits one car , then you’ll need to get out of your car to unlock the gate before you can drive in. The DOC sign for this track is literally parallel to the road so you don’t see it until you stop at the turnoff. I missed it the first time and had to turn back to find it. Once you get past the gate, you will drive up about 100m of gravel road to another open space that fits about 10 cars. Beyond that point, only 4WD are allowed so the rest of us need to walk up the zigzagging gravel slopes to the starting point. This part is similar to Roy’s Peak. There’s a toilet at the start point for those who need it. The difficulty and terrain of this track is similar to tiki trail in Queenstown central (from bottom of the skyline gondola to the top). Equally rocky and narrow, and steep. But it’s shorter- I took 20-30min to reach the dam with a small waterfall. From there, the sign says turn left but you should go right . It’s a flat but narrow plank walk (warning to those with fear of heights) to the real treasure of this track - majestic waterfalls that u can see from the carpark and the view of the lake!

Beautiful view of the city!! Make sure when you see the arrow pointing the track to the left you go right instead to reach the platform! This is a must go in QT.

The hike and climb is just spectacular. Allow for atleast 1hr to do the return hike from the bottom carpark.

Amazing hike. Not an easy one, but very rewarding. You have to open and close the main gate before you head up to the car park. The road (400m)was a bit rocky but my little rental car survived. I met a few lovely locals and they showed me where to get the best views. Towards the end (after 40mins walk from the car park) The signboard (route) says go left but you need to keep going right to see the best views.

Went there for rock climbing. Definitely very lucky for queenstown resident to have such a great crag.

To get to View platform...ZigZag up hill, follow track, cross over pipe and continue to follow track through the bush, turn right at dam, dont go left up hill as it takes you to lake Alta at the Remarkables. Go across dam and follow track round corner and walk along pipeline walkway till you get to 2nd dam which is where the veiwing platform is just before a Beautiful waterfall. Im not fit, the walk was manageable, uphill most of the way 1 hour 15mins up, 40mins back to carpark off main highway. Beautiful Walk, Beautiful Views.Well Worth the Trek.
