My experience with Albany’s Tony’s Tyre Service was brilliant! I was not the ideal customer for them but they went above and beyond to accommodate my specific requirements. Communication was quick, as was the service itself. The lads in there were so polite, friendly and conscientious. I discovered they were only a five minute walk away from the Albany Mall so I took a very pleasant stroll, sat and had morning tea, did a little shopping and they called me as soon as it was finished. Best of all, they gave me hands down the most competitive price! This included everything – no hidden extras and they even polished my wheels at the end of it. I’d trust them to work on my car again. I highly recommend these boys. No question – Five stars – They earned it!

Just came for a wheel balancing and then they tried to sell me new tires and have my wheels aligned. Don’t be fooled by the first cheap prices they give you. They start you slow then overprice everything else for you. Just take the first cheap offer and don’t listen to whatever else they have to offer because 9 times out of 10, it’s overpriced and not really needed. Eftpos machine was broken too so I had to the MANAGER told me to go cash out somewhere to pay him. Had to go to Mitre 10 and spend more money I didn’t intend to spend. After all of this, the black paint on my mag wheels has scratches all over the outside, and I just had them repainted a week ago. Disappointing.

I booked in earlier this week as I had a flat tyre that needed fixing. I was immediately converged on by three staff members who looked at it and the other front tyre and was told most insistently the tread was very low and they both needed replacing. I felt very rushed into making a decision at that moment even though I have recently passed a WOF with no mention of low tyre treads and was also assisted by the AA when I got the puncture and they didn't comment on the tread either. There was no real attempt to find out where the puncture was apart from inflating the tyre and putting it under water. Efforts to upsell a wheel alignment then 5 wheel alignments for the price of 'whatever' was the next hard sell. Without my knowledge or permission they also tested my car battery while fitting the new tyres, I only realised this afterwards as they left the docket in my car which said the battery charge was 100%. My problem tyre was never fully investigated and written off by these people which is unacceptable. I would never use this business again and would not recommend it.

Tony's tyre head office matched my quotation from Bridgestone Tyre and it was a great deal. However, in particular this branch in Albany, I might not come back because they were too keen to sell more products. As soon as I arrived the staff said that the car needs wheel alignment and they conducted complimentary check up on engine oil and battery etc to sell the service without telling me in advance. It wont be comfortable if I ignore their requests when I come for a complimenatry warranty service next time. It actually made me feel guilty not taking their products when I have huge discounts. However,One of customers who had her car aligned the wheel was so surprised they finished in 15 mins but there was no report given about how accurate their service was a bit dubious about it. I think it is quite important to have a place that you can trust. I did not have that feeling in this branch. Sorry but Thats why I will go to another place to have get the wheel alignment done. I hope more consumers should be wise to have better service as NZ is an expensive place.
