Just had a quick look at this campground. Looks like a great place to stay for a few days. Probably fairly crowded in the Summer but very beautiful in Autumn.

Absolutely love the place. Good spot to go to if you want to be close to the river. Bar within walking distance. Well maintained toilets and bins, although do boil the water.
Large and spacious camping area, bordering the Clutha River. There was plenty of space while we were there in February but can get very busy during peak holidays. Its 10 pp pernight. Long drop and flushing toilets and non drinkable water. Stay clear of the trees when windy. Also mind the potholes on access ways, it keeps people's speeds down so not all bad . There's some great cycling trails to choose all within close proximity of the camp.
I stayed here longer than expected. The check-in process is straight forward and 10/night. Beautiful scenery. A few permanent campers who seem to have really drowned in it and developed hostile personalities so stay away from the Northern parts closer to the roads. At least two vicious dogs (classified as, and behave as), and one is poorly tied up to a tree branch most times. The camp manager doesn't kick them out because they know to pay cash so he doesn't have to declare it (someone who used to work for him told me). There are two camp managers who live on-site - the guy is really polite and friendly but his wife is drunk all day and doesn't do anything, been told she gets in your face aggressive too and to keep away from them. Also learned that the camp owner rents many of the camp areas and does the absolute bare minimum to keep his contract. It's a shame because in someone else's hands it could become a much better place. They only add hand soap when covid alert level requires it, then let it run empty.
Great place for low cost camping. No showers but good toilets and tap water . ( Recommend boiling ) Extended area on other side of the road with minimal facilities. Close to 4 square, good shops and pub. Great area for bike and walking trails.River is fast flowing ....but some sheltered areas for a dip. Suggest you keep clear of the trees as it can be a bit windy and cones fall off the trees!!
Popped in to have a look. Right on the river. Huge site. 10 a night. Toilets. Will definately stop-over next time.
How camping should be everywhere. Stunning campsite location with clean toilets. And it's cheap!
Well laid out and plenty of room....and good registry system...
