Suitably located in the cultural heart of Auckland City on Karangahape Road, we are committed to producing shows which explore the colour, strength and character within this country. Our projects capture these uniquely Kiwi qualities and we have successfully produced television for every major New Zealand network. Our varied slate consists of factual, observational documentary series’, one-off documentaries and an award nominated comedy series. The company formerly known as Butobase was started in 1999 when founding father Glenn Elliott set up a small production company specializing in producing shows, designed to challenge tradition and give a voice to the understated outsider. Over ten years later, a unique identity has formed and a well-respected and flourishing company has emerged. The philosophy of Buto Productions is still the same and we believe in providing insightful, entertaining shows. Our projects promote an open mind and take viewers all over the country helping to inform, empower and inspire. We are not afraid to experiment and prefer to explore both traditional and non-traditional story telling techniques, reinventing genres and formats as we go.
