In 1999 Glenn Elliott founded ButoBase, a film and television company specialising in low budget guerrilla style programs. The early years were all about challenging traditions and giving a voice to the understated outsider. From these wild and early beginnings, a company has emerged that will never lose sight of its original intentions but has broadened its scope. ButoBase has now produced over 100 hours of television. We produce commercials, indigenous programming for Māori Television, a comedy series for TV2, and independent digital features, and have recently launched into the international film festival circuit. ButoBase is a small production company with a big future. As we branch out and continue to grow, one thing’s certain; we’ll never forget where we came from and who we are.
