We arrived less than 5 minutes before departure and expected to have to catch the next ferry. They said run over and you will make it. They let us board and we departed right after. It was a smooth ride and nice to sit on the deck on top. Was much less busy than the other company Fullers. We saw them boarding and their line was much longer. So I would definitely prefer using explore.

This is the best ferry service to take to Waiheke Island. The staff actually care about you, the ferries run on time and there's no ridiculous queues like the other ferry company. I always get a seat on an Explore Waiheke ferry, the Pier 3 terminal is right across the road from PwC building and always leave from this terminal so no confusion when you're running for the ferry. I like that this terminal is really close to Downtown Carpark. Have also experienced wine tasting on Explore Waiheke on some evening trips. Highly recommended!

Five of us arrived at the Waiheke terminal with only minutes before the 4:30pm ferry on Saturday 10/10/15. I thought I had the reservation details handy on my phone but was unable to retrieve them. The guy at the ticket counter (I'm told his name is David) was awesome - he took my word for it that we had a valid booking and printed us out boarding passes. This even though the inside of the ferry was standing room only and despite my telling him we were actually booked on the 5:30pm. This is exactly the sort of behaviour that makes me use Explore instead of Fullers whenever I have the choice. His customer service meant we got to Auckland a whole hour earlier than we would have if he'd been a stickler and made us twiddle our thumbs until 5:30. I spoke with Alex on the boat and he was great too. Cheers, Lucas

Friendly staff. Prices are similar to fullers ferries. Ferries are clean and comfortable. On weekends it felt like they had better/more times to waiheke
