152 Queen Street, Auckland CBD
N/A
The Keans Building at 152 Queen Street served as the primary Auckland outlet for Kean's Jeans, the dominant manufacturers of denim jeans in New Zealand during much of the 20th century. Completed in early 1929, the architect was the renowned Arthur Sinclair O’Connor, who chose a Neo-Greek style for the building's facade, subsequently embellished with a bright neon sign featuring a lasso-toting cowboy in blue jeans. Today the building's ground floor retains its commercial function. The building can be easily missed while walking along Queen Street, due to its low profile following a reduction in height during construction. So look out for it!
