Great, friendly service and excellent vehicles. A little way from the airport but there is free pickup and drop off. Any inconvenience is more than made up for by the excellent prices which are far better than the big name companies.

Decide to rent a Nissan serina freedom camping van from here. we paid for the one with a fridge but when we arived they tried giving us one with out the fridge! Once we sorted that out we were on the road where we quickly discovered that these vans are horribly laid out and not user friendly at all. Are next issue came up when we tried to do are dishes and the hand pump for the sink did not work what so ever. Waking up the next day to warm milk because the fridge battery was not adequate to keep it cold over night. Also are fire extinguisher had been discharged prior to getting the van and was good for nothing but a paper weight and the reg tag was also not upto date. Upon dropping the van off and telling the nice guy in Wellington are issue's i got told "that no good ill pass it on" but i am yet to hear anything from mode rentals about this

We booked a car for 3 days, with a 9 months old child.. we had done prepayment for our vehicle and all services (child seat and after hours drop off). On arrival we were charged 3000 bond which was not advised in T&C. We still paid the bond despite arguing for an hour.. they said only 3000 will be on hold however they charge extra for services which was already paid.. in having discussion the person working there just handed over the phone to the manager and disappeared for 15 minutes rather than helping us sort out. They were extremely rude and showed no respect. At they end they just said “you can ask for refund” and did not want to help. The car was extremely dirty and child seat had vomit stains. (The only child seat they had).. it was a ridiculous experience and NEVER with these guys.

Where do I begin with this joke of a company! One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a NZ business. I could go on and on about my horrible experience but here is the short version in order of events: - Email confirmation showed picture of different vehicle than what was provided - Surprise! 3000 bond for not using their insurance (cost of daily insurance was almost full price of daily vehicle hire) - Surprise again as bond was charged twice to my card - We were told pictures were taken for all previous vehicle damage and not to worry. They never did a walk through with us or had us confirm any spots on the vehicle so we agreed on any damage existing to the vehicle. All we had was trust in their documentation. - Surprise! start our trip with 1/4 tank of petrol. Thanks - Surprise! the bonnet comes unlatched as we merge on to the Auckland motorway. - Final surprise is some minor damage to the vehicle that cannot be determined as we did not do a walkthrough prior to getting in to the vehicle. Their pics show the vehicle with no damage but the same pics also show the hood latched which proves there is no way the pics are directly prior to vehicle hand over. Company accepts that employee did not follow certain procedures and needs further training but still charging for the disputed damage. They provided a repair 'quote' with no documentation. I would not recommend this company to anyone at any point in time.

Great, efficient, 'smooth as' service. No problems with the car at all and it was cheap to run. The little baby took us hassle free, wherever we want to go. Very nice, friendly and easy to deal with staff. Keep up the good work. Highly recommend!

Easy experience from start to finish. Had noted a 3000 bond in the T&C's which I called their team regarding - they advised that this could be reduced by selecting a different insurance option. They explained that this could all be arranged on arrival. We opted to changed the insurance coverage at their offices like they had advised and paid a smaller bond fee which we were pleased with. Car was decent enough, had no issues with it at all - and we drove to Cape Reinga, Bay of Islands and Gisborne within 10 days and put a lot of miles on it and didn't have one mechanical issue. It was also very cheap to run on petrol which was an added bonus. We didn't have to wait for a shuttle back to the airport when we returned the car as they dropped us off straight away in the car we had rented from them so we didn't have to wait. Bond was returned immediately and would definitely book again. Thanks guys :)

Kia Ora to Mode and their customer service people. Being picked up from the Auckland domestic airport and transported to their rental car service area, saved anxiety issues as I came from the South Island and am unfamiliar with the area. Secondly having Dilip as a customer service person, whom went beyond the usual customer service person. He had patience and understanding of my technological knowledge ( Google maps) instructed me on how to use this technological tool. The Estima I hired was clean and tidy and drove well with no issues. On return being Covid level 3, there was someone on hand to receive the vehicle. Much gratitude to Mode for their service. I will be highly recommending them to all and will certainly be back to rent again. Nga Mihi
