A country pub a stones throw from the city. A great place to hang out any day of the week. The field is magic in the summer full of families and pets. A unique kiwi experience.

An unexpected combination of a country pub feel though it is a short drive from the centre of Auckland. The main building is old and historic (by NZ standards) and on a sunny day the grounds, with the outdoor tables and umbrellas, are a great option. Inside there are the typical bars and dining of a pub. The food and drinks were generously sized and tasted fine. Service was a bit slow, they seemed really busy, but friendly enough and not intrusive. Basically, this is the real thing not an imitation.
Northcote Tavern is a great place for recreational purposes, whether you're there for and after work drink or a family gathering, the tavern has it all. Northcote Tavern serves a large variety of drinks, and the food is very good! They have delicious fish and chips, burgers, potatoes and mash, and a lovely range of deserts. Over all I think The Northcote Tavern is an awesome place to be! (four stars because there is always room for improvement) :)))
This is a great local pub. The garden bar is lovely on a sunny afternoon, and the tables are well sheltered with sturdy sun umbrellas. The food is classic pub food, the kids loved the fish and chips. Burgers pretty tasty too. Kids meal comes with a free icecream and sprinkles which was met with excitement. Good place to catch up after work too. Staff very helpful, service efficient.
Great place to eat a pub lunch. Good selection of food.
First time to the Tavern . We all had a lovely time. The staff were helpful and friendly. And the food was exceptional. Looking forward to go back and trying something different off the menu. My son gave it 6 stars out of 5
The Professor and I were invited to Friday lunch at the Tavern. It was a spectacular day walking into the enterprise a bit earlier than scheduled. A busy lunch time trade was happening but there were no queues at the bar where we were attended to quickly and cheerfully. We took in the ambiance over an unhurried beer. Our luncheon participants arrived, were quickly supplied with drinks from the bar tender and settled unmolested to catch up. Eventually I and the other male participants were dispatched to the kitchen to place our food order. No problem with the Professors exchange chips for salad requirement then we were back at the table discussing righting wrongs. Food came out all but one. The time the food was on the table seemed interminable but it was probably only a few minutes. Once we tucked in the food had maintained temperature and was delicious. The Professor thought more spice and thickness in the sauce but concluded its level of spice was about right for most people. Extra spicy option could be the answer. Apparently the enterprise had won and an award for it's offerings that day. I think the award was deserved.
Great old school pub with good range of food and beers. Lovely outdoor area for summer and fire inside in winter.
