This is an outstanding place to visit. Take the tractor driven tour to the top of the volcanic mountain. Spectacular views everywhere. Unusual flora unique to this island. This island was formed around 500 years ago. The last 200 years the local vegetation has been taking over.
This is the pier where you'd get the ferry to Rangitoto and the whole process is incredibly simple and actually a very reasonable price. The ferry has multiple arrival and departure times and will usually leave at the time specified. The snacks and drinks on the ferry are very good but there isn't the most selection. The ferry is also incredible fast so it'll get you to the island in absolutely no time at all!
Had a grea time here. 65 included the ferry and about a 3 hour tour to the top of the mountain. Most of the way you are driven and then about 400 steps to the top. Great 360 views from the top.
