Our central kaupapa (purpose) is ‘Save the bees’ based off our beliefs that; • Bees are dying and in danger • Bees are essential to ecological and human sustainability • Bee hives are becoming increasingly commoditised and treated as assets • Bee health and bee care is a solution to rebuilding the bee population The School of Honey Trust has been established as the governing body to deliver on our ‘Save the bees’ kaupapa. The Trust will operate three core functions to deliver on its kaupapa: 1. Mātauranga - Education; Community based School of Honey beekeeping courses based upon a high set of sustainable and ethical standards. 2. Hapori – Community; Build a community of members that have; a. completed the School of Honey course, b. have established bee hives on their land c. manage their hives to the School of Honey standards 3. Kōkiri – Advocacy; Develop bee awareness and bee health support among local and central government agencies and large corporates. Encourage local community groups, schools and other providers or agencies to incorporate bee education in their organisations and to adopted and or sponsor one or more beehive
