Nice walk from the car park to the dam. Around 2 hours return. Walk to the picnic area and then you can follow the old tracks to the bottom of the dam. Pretty cool. Also spent the night at the car park (in self contained van). It was a bit busy in the evening but quiet during the night.

Bush walk today 4/4/2018 since was out West Haven't been to this dam since 2006 when Watercare use to run the Rainforest Express Tramline & u enter from the other end. I was the only one here to begin with so message must b getting through - Waitakere's closes on 1 May. Says 40 minutes - done in 30. When down to picnic area & came back up steps, must b stepest steps I've ever climbed. Some nice waterfalls.

Do NOT park there. My van got vandalised during the day and the car park is full of glass meaning that was not an exception!
