The Wairaka Land Company (WLC) is a special purpose vehicle created by Unitec to implement a transformational property plan. WLC is led by expert team with diverse backgrounds in property development, strategic planning, resource management, commercial transactions, marketing and placemaking. The company was created in November 2015 to develop and implement a strategy to create a new urban precinct on the existing Mt. Albert campus where living, working and recreation co-exist in an educationally focused, sustainable form. WLC led Unitec’s participation in the Auckland Unitary Plan process, requesting zoning changes and outlining a set of ideas for the long-term development of the Wairaka Precinct. In August 2016, Auckland Council approved the Unitary Plan, including WLC’s proposals.
