Bar Yoku on Wells street is nice addition to Christchurch life. It’s inviting and making you feel relaxed. Good selection of wine and sake. Would be nice to have sake that you can’t buy at any liquor store making customers to wanted come even more. Food is very nice well presented. For people who went to Japan and experienced real izakaya Bar Yoku is the closest you can get. Staff is excellent with smile not invasive leaving you comfortable and relaxed. Wold recommend to anyone who likes Japanese food.

Popped in here for lunch on a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, fabulous restaurant and great menu! The food is different and unique and the sushi tacos are amazing! Great prices and super friendly staff with great service. We'll be back for sure.

So sad to rate this way, because last time I was here for the donburi and it was awesome! Sushi tacos are also incredible. However, we ordered the fricken today and it was an upsetting experience, both in texture, and also in that the three of us in my party were ill after eating it. Unfortunately was less than enjoyable. Also, was very busy and our tables food all came out at random times - two of us finished our food before they other had even gotten any yet.
