I drive 250 km because the Manager say,he had work for me. After I arrive,it was just terribel. It seems like,no one clean this hostel since 10 years. The atmosphere is terrible and it smells bad everywhere.
Terrible. Dirty place, kitchen was gross. Had to throw food out because of insects. Cooking in there wasn't safe. Dorm rooms and showers also disgusting. Worst part was you pay a deposit to stay here and I didn't get it back after nagging the manager for months. Do not stay here
Manage of this place is very bad Need to clean this place Swampy and cherry backpackers. Also arrow backpackers. Bad dirty place.
If God existed he would allow me to rate this place with a 0 star. The place is dirty as hell, you have cockroaches and birds coming to the kitchen to pick up the crums people leave behind themselves The showers are probably the worst I've ever seen in new zealand, one tap is half broken, dead flies and mosquitoes everywhere, the curtains are full of grease... And all this is just the begining. The living room is a dust and dirt storm and the cpurtyard where you'll park to sleep is just full of rubish, cans, cigarette butts. The best is the owner who will ask you a one week deposit, but will do everything to keep it when you'll leave. We had to come back 2 weeks after our departure to confront the owner and told him we would call the cops if he won't give it back straightly. We got back our bond after this ultimate threat, fight for it if you stay there. Also, when we complained about the cleaning and the hygene, he told us we had ''to big expectations''.... The only good points are the people we met there, very nice guys, and the WiFi, very powerful. Anyway, run away from there and find another backpackers to stay, they also provide you a job if you stay more than a week, avoid the CherryBackpackers !!!
This is probably the most undecent and disgusting place i have ever lived. I only survived 2 days before i had to move on. It was simply to disgusting. There were vomit on the floor, no cleaner. The toilets hasn't been cleaned properly for maybe a month (And there are 20 people using the toilets every day). One of my flatmates said that the rooms that we slept in hasn't been cleaned for the 3 months that she had stayed there. This is not a place that you can live in. The only reason to stay there is that he can help you get a job, so you don't need to apply for a job yourself, but it's not worth it, if you ask me! You pay 140 a week for a place like this, which is one of the most expensive backpacker-hostels i have heard about and stayed with. Beside that you pay 140 upfront as a deposit, but don't expect to get the deposit back, when you leave. I made an agreement with ham when i left. 50 for the 2 nights i stayed there, but i have paid 280 upfront (1 week deposit), but he won't pay back the 230 even though i have texted him 3 times in 2 weeks (Giving him 3/4 weekdays to transfer the money, before i write again) to remember him to transfer the money. He won't even pay the 140 back, which i legally has the right to get back, because they were paid as a deposit. If you are going to stay in Blenheim, i can only advice you to choose another place than Cherry House Backpackers. It's disgusting with no cleaning and poorly management of the place.
