Nice place to walk near by Christchurch and the look of city was awesome. Can enjoy both side of city and port. Lyttelton looks so beautiful from tip of mountain. It take 40 to 50 minutes to reach at top.

Gorgeous views or harbpur, coast and town, steep gradient from Lyttleton side nice with a couple of beers to keep you cool

Lovely history path. The beautiful view isn't change too much with 150 years ago.

Too many dangerous cyclists who believe they own the roads going down hill they get up to speeds exceeding the speed limits especially pass heathcote valley school and they also ride two or something 3 wide. Noticed a big deep pot hole near one of the bends the other day hope that gets fixed soon wouldn't want to have to avoid a fallen cyclest and hit another car coming the other way nor would I want to get blood on my car or have the bike scratch my paint job Pot hole got fixed next day open again be careful could do with one or two cyclists to fill hole

Don't bother with the gondola.. get the bus to Lyttelton and climb climb climb. Totally worth the effort, amazing views both south over Lyttelton and north over Christchurch and the coast.

Lovely hike! Great views, sheep, hills ... I've started in Lyttelton (the beautiful bench marks the start), went up to the viewpoint (shelter) and down to Sumner via the Scarborough Bluffs Trail. The last meters on the Captain Thomas Track brought me to the upper summervale Dr. Spend some time searching for the paths but in the end I ended up on Sumner's beach :) Very nice!!

Great testing walk, need to have a good level of fitness for the incline. Great reward of the views at the top

Amazing views of Canterbury, with the bonus of going to Lyttleton Farmer's Market to refuel!
