Woah! This place seems to play with time and distance. How much ever you walk, you still seem to be so far off from the peak of the hill. Another good place for photoshoots. A word of caution: Just be careful of the winding paths, as they can be quite slippery in winter from the melting snows.
Great hike to the peak, some amazing views. But I would definitely Not do it if it was wet or foggy. It is a fairly short hike from the road around 5.5k (one way) but very very steep. Took me around 2h30 to get to the top (with plenty of stops for photos). The path is unmarked but fairly easy to follow. But I would not do it without a GPS (maps.me is perfect).
Nice place with weird rock , good for walk around on nature .
challenging hike from Porters Pass to Foggy Peak but evens out a bit at 1800 elevation mark. i was not able to reach the summit since i reckon it is too dangerous to go alone without proper gear
its good to visit after snowing, you can get different scenery.
First mountaineering in New Zealand South island. It was very hard as I am not that fit. Took me around 7 hours to get to top. Did 4 hours return. It was fun and tiring. Highest elevation I have climbed so far.
Good snow coverage...icy first thing...ice axe needed if not snow shoes. Magnificent environment. Loose your thought & renew yourself...physically and mentally. Wu wai...jose
