Harrington's Breweries was founded in 1991 by John Harrington with a goal of providing alternative choices to the New Zealand beer drinker in comparison to the overpriced, sugary brown ales which dominated the market. In addition, John saw it his mission to take on the big breweries which had a duopoly in the market which meant “choice” was something that Kiwis beer drinkers could only say to one another. John and his brewing team began experimenting with traditional styles of beer that were less available in New Zealand. Twenty-Six years later, a site shift to Christchurch, and this has grown to a range of over fifteen beers, including a range of Ciders that are being enjoyed up and down the country.
