Always great food and service. Their chicken broth is spectacular. I love the Dan Dan. Highly recommend.

Super delicious food. Had a lunch special today of beef brisket and noodles which was only 10. Amount of food was reasonable. The beef brisket was soft, juicy and tender. It practically melted in my mouth. The noodles are yummy. I think they were handmade-they certainly had a bouncy yet succulent texture. Very impressed by the high quality of food.

So good! While the food scene in Christchurch has improved markedly since the earthquakes it's often come at the expense of authenticity. This place is not one of those, great, authentic & delicious food made with care. Will be back!

Absolutely amazing food and we can't wait to go back! We went to Chengdu, Sichuan province in China a couple of years ago and has been missing the food ever since. I was so excited when I found The Sichuan Kitchen when searching for 'dan dan noodles in chch'. We went on a Saturday night and there were quite a few other tables of people, really nice atmosphere. We got the A1 Sichuan boiled dumplings with chilli sauce, B1 dan dan noodles, R2 mapo tofu, H1 spicy sliced chicken, S1 pita pocket with dry beef. We chose original level of spice, which was hot for some of the dishes, but still super tasty. Each of the dishes had its own delicious, unique but truly Sichuan flavour and we struggled to pick favourites. Each one reminded us of what we ate in China and I couldn't help but smile as I tried each new dish and was instantly transported back to Sichuan. If I had to pick a favourite, maybe the spicy sliced chicken or the dumplings. Although I will definitely get the beef pita picket and the dan dan again. The lady who served us (and I think runs it with her husband) said that they have to air freight the spices in from Sichuan. Their dedication to real Sichuan flavours shows in the food. Thank you so much for making this food available to us in Christchurch. We are very lucky. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu!

This is really a gem super super delicious I would say one of my best meals I ever had in my life. It was so delicious I’m still dreaming of it, definitely I will visit again. The noodles are awesome and the spices are super balanced. It’s also enough space available to visit with a bigger group. Staff is super friendly. Highly recommended place!!!

Local Chengdu flavour. If you'd like to hace some spicy Chinese food and you don't want it to be too sweet, this restaurant is a wonderful option in CBD.
