We had a great family trip with Steve on the Earl Grey II. Steve is so knowledgeable and very generous with sharing what he knows. He helped our tamariki with their first catches. Actually, he helped me with my first catch! Definitely something fun to do in the Bay of Islands.

Highly recommend it! Wendy and Steve are great people and Steve knows exactly what he is doing and where to go for the best fishing. As soon as we dropped our first line we caught a kingfish, it was amazing! Steve filleted and prepared all of our fish for us too which was extremely helpful. We will definitely be going fishing with Earl Grey again when we are up in Northland.
Thank you Steve and Wendy Butler for making this the most sucessful team building event so far. The boys had a blast and will be talking about it for a long time to come. The sun was shining the fish were biting - see you again next year:)
What a way to celebrate my 70th birthday back on board the Earl Grey II Fishing Charters with Steve. Be warned you must book early as we had to take a different charter on my birthday last year much to my disappointment. However we won't let that happen again. We will be back again in April for our usual wedding anniversary day out on the Earl Grey with Steve. We value his professionalism, his safety consciousness, and his wonderful fishing and boating skills.. Friendly, funny and so helpful. In the words of Tina Turner " Your simply the best , better than all the Rest".
I've been on many fishing charters over the years, and Earl Grey is the one I go back to again and again. Steve and Wendy go out of their way to ensure that the trip is trouble free and enjoyable. They can't guarantee you will catch a kingy but they will ensure you have the best possible chance.
We had a wonderful experience with Steve and Wendy on the Earl Grey! Despite the drizzle and slightly rougher conditions we had an action packed day and Steve certainly had a wealth of knowledge :)
Steve has been doing charters for a long time and runs a 'tight' ship. gear is good and he is very attentive. he will do his utmost to help you get your catch. we had a great day, all members of the family landing a kingfish, and getting a few snapper too. recommended.
A stunning day on the water with a professional charter operator with excellent equipment and who knows his stuff. Would thoroughly recommend Steve and Earl Grey Charters to anyone. Really appreciated the way that Steve and Wendy made this trip happen for me, as it was originally planned for March but initially thwarted by Covid. Their flexibility and hospitality was much appreciated. A fantastic day!
