I did my electrical apprenticeship through Skills from 2017 - 2020. My account manager in Christchurch - Jono Chan, was great to deal with throughout the years. Always happy to help with any questions or queries, even brought a smoko shout to site when one of the guys qualified! I'm now a registered electrician and loving it. Cheers Skills!

You'll be paying 36 per week as an apprentice for your skills rep to do absolutely nothing throughout your apprenticeship. Skills are basically a middle man who take a cut after getting you into training at a polytech. So shady.

The only Skills this organisation possesses are the skills required to be inept, incompetent and uninterested in the very people they are supposed to be assisting through their training programs. They don't even attempt to hide the fact that they have very little consideration for actually helping students. I would suggest that anyone considering doing their training through Skills should reconsider. This place is full of people who know they will get paid regardless of whether or not they actually attempt to do their job.

Archaic and slow system. Online orders that have been paid for take 24hrs to 'sync' and allow access.

The standard and quality of trades training in the last 20 years has been atrocious. Yes I am qualified to speak, retired now was a company owner of two apprentice employing companies and served on the original committees that changed the system. I resigned from this as it was seriously flawed and I had no wish to have my name associated. The people and governments involved should be held accountable for the irreparable damage they do.
