The site is free. Only because the Selwyn council and community. Tell you at the sign before you go in. no dogs no horses no fires no smoking no mountain/motorbikes They are trying to rebuild / enliven the domain from all the damage from past user's.

This looks like a great stopover and big thanks to the local council providing this location. We could not stay due to works going on, but look forward to coming back.
