Hokitika Government Building. With statue of Richard John Sedan who represented Westland in Parliament from 1879 - 1906 and Prime Minister of New Zealand from 1893 - 1906. Great place to visit. Must see in Hokitika.

A grand building in the cool little West Coast town of Hokitika (famous for its jade, or greenstone). Locally known as Seddon House (after the Prime Minister Richard Seddon, whose statue stands outside), the building was constructed in two parts. The first part was completed in June 1909, with the south end (Hokitika Court Rooms) being occupied from 1914. Several government departments have occupied this building over the years, but it's currently not occupied.
