Tented in the camp ground which was beautiful. Stayed while the owners extended family were there and it was like paying to sleep in the middle of a large, private party. Owners were friendly but not helpful unless paid to be.

Once again an amazing stay. Kev and Marrisa always pull out all of the stops for us whenever we are over. It's been a while between drinks but still seemed like yesterday. Looking forward to the next trip. If you're looking for luxurious accommodation with 5 star rating then this entire island is probably not for you but if you want to experience something closer to reality on the barrier then the Stray Possum is the perfect spot.

Good place for first and last nights on Barrier as near to the wharf for backpackers. Pizza oven too. Yum.

Kev and Marissa are a lovely couple and it shows in the place they own and run. Very welcoming

We ate at the restaurant here one evening. It is a pub-style restaurant that's part of the lodge, with food and atmosphere that didn't particularly impress us. It seems likely that they mean to serve mostly the people staying in the lodge. We were the only ones there for dinner. Their menu was quite limited for us (steak, pork chops or pizzas, with one vegetarian option, described as "my wife's specialty" on the phone) and needed to be specified at the time of reservation. The steak was reasonably tasty, but unevenly cooked (requested medium-well, but one end was quite rare and the other was overdone). Chips (french fries) looked and tasted like frozen packaged fries. The pizzas were good, except that the olives still had pits, which made each bite exciting. The service was unfriendly and we felt like we were an imposition. Two steaks and two pizzas, with four glasses of "red wine" came to 132, which seemed grossly over-priced.
