We did the tour of the brewery. Great tour allowing you to see some of the ways in which beer is produced and bottled. They currently don't produce beer here, but they apparently have a lot of kegs and bottles left from when they did. They apparently will start again in over a year here. You get 3 taste vouchers per person, with plenty of options to choose from.

The brewery tour was great, learning about the Monteiths history and brewing over the many years, plus a tasting of beers at the end.
A relatively quiet weekday evening when we were there. Staff were ok, although we had to fetch menus ourselves and weren't told we had to go to the bar to order food/drinks. The pork main was an incredibly small portion for 34 (more like entree size), don't bother unless you're on a diet. The fish and chips however was the opposite and was good value for 25. I had to order a second main of fish and chips because I was still hungry after the little pork "main"! I'm a relatively light-framed person, so it's not as if I'm an All Black forward needing a big piece of meat. Other mains amongst our group of 4 were ok. The beer battered chips were excellent - if you're here, at least order this.
Wow! My partner has not stopped talking about this place! We even tried recreating one of their meals (the Venison sliders) because we enjoyed it so much. I'm not a cider or beer fan, but I ordered the crushed apple cider and it was so refreshing with my meal (I had the Chicken burger). Highly highly recommend as a stop off in Greymouth!
For the amount of staff they had on they could of done table service to many standing around behind the bar just staring at you. The tour could of been a bit better as actually seeing some of it working instead of looking like a closed down facility. Felt like the free option of drink on the passports was just to get rid of stock and being served drinks in chipped classes was not what I call good business.
Amazing, locally-sourced food, lovely staff, wide range of beers, and the sauces are yummmmm! I don't think they take reservations here, but there's plenty of seating available, with ample room. Not all seats have backrests, a lot are stools so you may have to call to specially request if necessary.
Excellent place, highly recommended * great atmosphere *
Joe was a great, the food was awesome, beers brilliant. Enjoy the tour, it's worth the effort
