We rented with Harcourts Frankton for about 18months. It was a really disappointing experience, from the start we were misinformed about the two weeks rent paid in advance, when I emailed the property manger to clarify what he’d told us as it varied from the contract we’d signed, the response was a very patronising explanation detailing how you pay rent which unfortunately missed the point. Once we had signed the dotted line the attitude towards us changed dramatically. We took great pride in the property we rented, it would’ve been nice if the owner and property manager had thought the same about the property, The kitchen window and bench were rotting and no concern from either party yet they were happy to increase our rent. When we made the decision to leave, we had minimal communication regarding viewings for potential tenants and I ended up having to check the Harcourt’s website to see the dates and times they had made available to the general public, we also had people turn up with less then 24 hours notice and as some of the agents weren’t waiting the 10minutes booked for the viewing it meant we had to then tell those knocking on our door that they were unable to view the property as the agent had left. We also had agents letting themselves into the house without knocking or checking anyone was home. This was really careless and unprofessional. This must be a general attitude at Harcourts as even the reception staff are unpleasant. If you are looking for a rental property, I’d suggest looking at other agencies before this one.
