Interesting village. Visited as part of daughter's school visit. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and its great to learn abit of history and how we used to live back in the old days. Cafe serves decent coffee too. Relatively large area to explore for maybe half a day of fun education and the village also offers venue hire for birthdays, weddings, etc which is a good option.

A nice way to look at the history of Howick but should be only 10 not 16 to enter
Spent a good 2hrs here with my daughter. We were both amazed that there is so much to see and to learn about the past/history. Good place to take kids to go back in time and see how it was to these days.
This in the southern end of Lloyd Elsmore Park between Howick and Pakuranga is simply awesome. It would easily be one of if not the biggest historical villages in New Zealand, all the 19th century houses, school, and all sorts of other buildings that has been donated to the Howick Historical Trust over many years and trucked in are totally authentic with the interiors fitted out from the same era. Way underfunded by our City Council for such a rich historical teaching tool, especially for the young people but just as informative and educational for every age group. We don't want to forget our European early history our from our Maori heritage which could do with more representation alongside this village. A real must see for every Kiwi and all the tourists, least we forget how hard both groups had to work to be able to have left everyone today such a beautiful, great and wonderful country. Thanks very much to the few paid staff, and even more thanks to the huge number of volunteers and rest enthusiasts.
Lived in Auckland for over 25 years and finally ticked this off the to do list. Very spur of the moment but glad we came. Didn't come on one of the open days (living museum) so there were only a few other groups. This might be a good thing (stay away from the crowds) as we wondered around for a good 2.5 hours reading all the signs / history. However the weekends where people get dressed up and explain what it was like to live in that time period looks like it would be also interesting. Recommended to do at least once.
I churned butter once or twice, in an Armish Paradise. Lovely little village with a wonderful historical element, also made a fantastic wedding venue.
Really interesting piece of history & full of furniture & historical items. Well worth a visit for a couple of hours.
Magical place, to do with early history locally and globally. I'll let you do the math.
