It changed its name back from Anderson Park Art Gallery to Invercargill Public Art Gallery in June 2016. The gallery has built a comprehensive collection of visual and applied arts that includes early European through to contemporary New Zealand art. There is a strong representation of local artists and artworks relating to Southland. Closure of the gallery at Anderson House Due to seismic susceptibility, Anderson House is closed to the public. While a new gallery venue is found, staff are committed to delivering an ongoing and engaging exhibition programme in various locations around the south.
