Driven this road many times over the years. Blink and you'll miss it. Big sign post though... Worth the stop. You can go into the grounds, just have to close the gate behind you.( I parked at tge gate and walked) . Park up, short walk, great view. Bit of early colonial history. Also remember to CLOSE the Blockhouse DOOR

Must have driven past this 100 times and never stopped. Finally did today and well worth it. Bit of history restored.
Great bit of colonial history
Camerons Blockhouse was an unexpected find. We had never heard of a Blockhouse nor their historic origin... well worth taking a few minutes to view and read about this location.
Nice price of history but not much too see or do here. Lovely scenery when it is fine.
Possibly the last remaining blockhouse in the Whanganui Manawatu area. Built in 1868 to protect land owners during the New Zealand Land Wars.
A restoration of a blockhouse which was to be a safe place for NZ settlers during the Maori wars.
