Beautiful water here. Water wheel still works puppy loved it here. The neighborhood is beautiful too.

Part of the history of the stream and surrounded by beautiful nature. In the winter the stream in full of spawning trout. It's a spectacular site when they are running, to just sit and watch them.
This is a lovely walk through some beautiful forest and bush. It was a bit tricky to find the entrance, but along Whangamata Rd there are two sign posts to mark the start of the Loop walk that takes you past the water wheel. Stick to the left hand track as you head down toward the water wheel as it is much prettier with more shade. A very pleasant flat walk which would be fine for kids as well. About 3km round trip.
This is reached with a pleasant walk mostly through forest from the small parking bays on Whangamata Road, about 15 minutes each way. The water wheel from the 1950s is restored and there is a little inoperative pump that was used to pump water for farm irrigation.
Nice walk, the wheel is nothing special but the trouts swim upstream was insane
Hope it stays so lovely
