Korokoro Dam is a spectacular feature well worth the walk from the Oakleigh St entrance to Belmont Park to view. The walk itself takes you through beautiful pristine New Zealand native bush. The dam itself is located in a beautiful setting. Definitely worth the effort and suitable for families (there were plenty on the track when I was). There were also a few runners and people walking their dogs (on lead).

Hiked from Cornish St up to Korokoro Dam. Really easy-going alongside the stream for the first 3km, plenty of blackberry bushes to snack at near the path. I took a left at Korokoro Forks which took me up a rugged, steep tramping track past Baked Beans Bend - with a heavy pack and hot weather this was tough going. I hung a right down an unmaintained track to take me directly to the dam, it was really rooty and steep and felt more like I was out in the Tararuas! Serene picnic by the dam then headed down the conventional way back to Cornish St. 3 hour round trip. Can't wait to explore more of the Belmont Regional Park now.
Fully loved this hike! Created an experience with some mates that I would definitely suggest if you’re into this nitty gritty thing!
15mins away from the carpark at Oakleigh street. Very nice and clean dam :)
It's one of my most pleasant experience as nearly 2km tracking walk lead to this dam by following circular way around mountains and you will reach to scenic view specially for photoshoot and mentally peaceful location I found here so far...Awesome for trackers!!!!
This track is one of my favorites, especially when the weather is bad or the wind is strong, beautiful native well maintained Bush tracks lead to an awesome open area where the dam is, great for a picnic.
Alright. A bit underwhelming as walks go.
Great walk from either end. Awesome for mountain bikes also.
