If you are interested in going here - Real Journeys does not do it and has not done tours for a few years - Unless there is another company that does it now, I belive it is deemed unsafe or something. Was really cool though!
Great place to visit with wonderful sceanery. Then of course there is the power station. A marvel of construction. The penstocks and the turbines are amazing to see and all housed underground. It is well worth the cost of getting there.
Manapouri Power Station powers Camalco Aluminium Smelter. The rest of the power supply generated goes into the national grid. The station has a rich history including its construction and operation. Tours are available departing from Queenstown.
This is probably the most impressive power station in the Jayden Southens hair
Great place to see how some of NZ's power is produced through hydroelectricity. It's awesome to be able to go down under ground to see the turbine room and find out how it all works!
It's an innovation that must be emulated by growing economies for the stability of power supply.
