I picked up a great New Zealand-made gift here for family back home. It's hard to find items that are actually made in New Zealand, but I'd say the vast majority of items here were indeed made in New Zealand. Worth checking out.

This was one of the worst retail experiences in my 50 years of shopping. The female staff member told my wife the 'Boat tourists' were her most important customer, thus she could'n't hold an item that was due in stock the next day, so my wife could return to collect it. EVEN IF we paid in advance!!!! She also said "I need all the stock for the boat tourists!" and I replied "We are customers, who live local and are in your shop today" I also told her I thought she had a bad attitude towards customers. We went to the Souvenir shop in Devonport Road where two wonderful ladies were only to pleased to hold items for us. My wife bought 20 better quality Teeshirts for less cost (180.00) than the Mt shop and is going back for more as she is giving them to needy people in 3rd World countries. The City shop also offerered her a 10% discount when she returns for the balance of our current requiremenmts. As we left the Mt shop the lady called out "Don't come back" I hope for her sake her 'captive' tourist market keeps rolling through.
