Māhia, New Zealand

I’m sure this spot would have 5 stars if you could drive to it but the road ends when you are about 5 mins drive from the site. Beautiful scenery on the drive out which is a No Exit road. At the time we drove there was a lot of gravel and loose seal so the amount of small stones coming off the road up under your vehicle can be intense at times.

Had the chance to see the launch complex close, as I did a delivery here. Fantastic is all I can say, must get down sometime to watch a launch. Great for the local economy. Great people too.
The Rocket Lab launch pad at Mahia Peninsula’s latitude and isolation gives it the largest possible launch azimuth of any site in the world, allowing the company to direct its rockets toward an unusually wide range of orbits without encountering air traffic.
Rocket Labs is an awesome company, but this site has absolutely nothing for visitors to see. It's out at the end of a long, windy gravel road, and you can't even see the launch site itself from the gate. There's a view of the launch facility from higher up the road, but you'll need a good telephoto lens to make out anything. Not really worth driving out unless you work there or know someone who does who can give you a tour. At least the views from the road looking down on the coast were pretty spectacular.
I bought a ticket back to my home planet, and they cancelled the flight at the last minute. I had to buy a guide to the galaxy and hitch-hike.
Beautiful views, cant complain!
Don't even bother trying to get to this place roads are windy and gravel plus there's a locked gate miles before the complex.
Happened to be travelling back from Gisborn on Friday and saw the launch, pretty awesome.. The downside is the facilities are non-existent, a rocky beach down a gravel road 10KM from the launch site is the best you get :-( Super-awesome company though and they live streamed the whole event in all the glorious details so I watched it on you tube.
