they don't let us dye our hair or have peircings, they hate individuality and self expression, the school is generally very exhausting to move around because its so huge, the only upside is the writing on the inside of bathroom stalls. also, people vape in the bathroom all the time and nothings been done about it.

I'm leaving the school at the end of 2020 as a year 12. Overall the experience has been good. Most of the teachers were fairly helpful and friendly. The only thing that irked me was that the school expected the best performance from every student (which is fair), but it came to a point this year and even the middle/end of last year where I could clearly see my academic abilities had leveled off and I wasn't going to get any better no matter how hard I tried or was pushed to improve them. It got to the point where it sounded as though getting an 'Achieved' wasn't good enough and they wanted to push for higher grades i.e. 'Merit' and 'Excellence'. I think it would be better if NZQA had a system where they cut out the merit and excellence awards for individual internals/externals (so that every student gets an Achieved), and if their performance is above average, then give them an endorsement of merit or excellence for EACH ASSIGNMENT. That way, when a student has tried their best and they know that's all they can do their not going to feel as though they are being pushed to achieve a higher grade. Those are some of the reasons why I'm leaving a year early.

I graduated from Napier Girls High school in 2010. It may have changed a lot in the years since but I enjoyed my time there. Most of the staff are really friendly and the facilities are good! Really privileged to have a modern high school with traditional values in Napier.
