Fantastic place to take the kids and learn about our wetlands. The activity station keep the kids busy and the walk is a nice distance for small legs.

The sanctuary is well designed for visitors. There's boardwalk and tracks. One hour is sufficient to slowly make a round trip on the loop walk, as well as to read through the information boards.

It was hard to find the entrance as it isn't well sign posted. The access is off SH 3, between McFall and Jary Roads. It's on the left side going south and it is left hand turn in and out only. There is a pest proof fence surrounding a small lake next to Lake Rotopiko. The Wetland Centre is not yet constructed but there is a boardwalk around the lake and a gravel path through some bush. The lake walk only goes near the lake in a couple of parts. It was a pleasant walk but seems there will be more to see after the centre is built as it doesn't take long to go around the whole area. The best part of the walk was coming across two morepork sitting on a branch under the shade of a fern. Very cute!
