Bluescope's New Zealand Steel is the biggest company in New Zealand with over 1200 employees at the Glenbrook Steel Mill site alone making it a small community itself. Other steel manufacturers use Iron ore which is 13% efficient whereas NZ Steel pioneered the use of Iron sand at 57% efficiency to first make pig Iron in the Iron plant and then into steel billets. From there it is made into many products like: rolled into different width and thickness plate and sheet steel at 20 to 30 tonne coils, Tube products, Continuous sheeting processed and painted different colours, etc. The Glenbrook site consists of many plants including Melters, Iron plant, Steel plant, Hot steel mill, Metal coat line, Colour coat line (zincalume Colour steel), Pipe mill, The Kilns, Rolling mills, central workshops, site specific workshops, product stores, Canteen, administration, Acid recovery plants, Fire station, Ambulance centre, Medical centre with doctor and nurses and so much more. The site is NOT open to the public and all visitors must be inducted to the site, wear full P.P.E and have identity swipe cards issued before entry.
I love this place and I want to go there. I like New-Zealand
