Wonder of nature - a 1000 years old Kauri Tree!

With the tough up hill walk

J

Surreal to be in the presence of something so old & still living without graffiti or other.

R

Romain Disse

Nice walk and impressive kauri tree, the beginning of the walk is quite steep but gives you nice point of view of the valley!

N

Nik Krause

Great to see this ancient tree and the young kauri planted in there

What a shame more of these trees did not survive felling, and that these long-living giants are in danger even today. This tree is on the peaceful side of the reserve - away from the highway noise of Great South Road - so you can appreciate this specimen in a bit more serenity.

A good walk not to difficult

A must do if you are in the Waikato. While we still have the opportunity.
