I proposed to my wife here... & she said YES! Absolutely stunning little gem set in some of the most magical countryside in the world. Devon is a delight to deal with & has a real passion for making your stay at this already amazing location even more memorable. If you're looking to max out on the romance in a beautiful private, simple yet luxurious little country style cabin only a short drive out of Auckland then this is the place for you!

If you looking for a real country experience this is the place. Woodfire oven is a blast. Great place to unwind and enjoy the tranquility of the country. Great for a quick escape and the outdoor bathtub is truly the most unique bathtub I've seen in my travels.

Sorry to say this no serene, secluded, peaceful nor private escape as promoted on the website. The cottage is certainly located on a “corner” of the farm - the corner right by the road! Nor is it “secluded” or “private”. The bath is in full view of the neighbour and host’s house, as well as any cyclist going past on the road which is 30metres away. Not conducive to a natural or romantic bath as nature intended. The cottage is cute and comfortable, but rustic is a better description than “5 star”. The fridge was so noisy we had to turn it off at night, sheep crapped all over the deck and outdoor relaxing area, and it just really needs some serious “tlc”. Your host is a lovely lady, but the website needs to be honest regarding actual location (regarding road and neighbour proximity) and limited vehicle access. If we were driving a town car we would have been stuck attempting to turn around. Seriously over-priced too. Sorry Devon, you have to deliver what you advertise - especially at the dollar level you expect.

My partner treated a weekend away for my birthday to what sounded like a magical spot with promises of tranquility and romance. The cabin was nice and comfortable and had all that was promised. I am very particular with the car I drive and was more than perturbed having to drive down a farm track through mud and slush to reach the cottage. On the second morning of our stay we were visited by the local sheep community who decided to camp down on the front deck leaving their little calling cards which took some negotiating to load the car up to leave. The serenity and tranquility of the water fall was all that was promised and was most welcome . Leaving the final morning was more like being in a off road event and had it been somebody who was not acustomed to driving off road it would have been quite distressing. It took quite sometime to get out of the parking area to slip and slide up the mud track to get back to the main road. Definatly not a ball gown and stiletto event and dont take your Porsche. Overall a pleasant experience however the state of the driveway and nightime visitors took the promised pleasures away. Rik
