As far as a place of worship, the building attracts just as many to appreciate its immense beauty. From the outside, it dominates all buildings that surround it. Potentially imposing, the history and passion involved in its design and construction are apparent as soon as you climb the steps and venture inside. From the impressive, 3D 'Stations of the Cross' to the detailed, vaulted ceilings high above, the Basilica feels absolutely to be, a House of God. Recently celebrating 125yr anniversary, it stands as an astonishing achievement for the then small Oamaru population. You can tell I've fervently renewed my Faith, since moving here two years ago.
