If you're interested in history in New Zealand, it's a good tribute to the railway pioneers in NZ. The guy there had many stories and a wealth of information well worth listening to. It's going to be a sad day if these stories are ever lost. Don't expect anything fancy but there's some cool old equipment to checkout.

Very interesting, not just the Tangawhai Disaster, also bits from the railway etc lights

Great little museum and shop. I suggest you bring cash as those are the only donations and payments they take in the shop, however there is no entrance fee. The guide is very knowledgeable and friendly and can share a lot of details about history for those who are interested. There's also 2 dogs walking around, a friendly calm one and another who is a tiny psychopath. Overall a very positive and entertaining experience, 10/10

Cute little museum but the best bit is the incredibly knowledge guide who gave a comprehensive and fascinating talk on the Tangiwai disaster amongst other things.
