So far the best rafting in New Zealand! You are two full hours in the water and the raft goes from grade 2 up to grade 5! It's the highest possible commercial rafting grade in NZ and the guides are awesome.
The team at Rangitata Rafts was exceptional! They were super friendly and the whole experience felt like a tight knit family. Everyone in our group of of 20 people said goodbye to each other after our team BBQ. The instructors did a great job in preparing us for the rapids. They pulled off to the side before the grade 5 rapid and we hiked up 25m to get a better view as they walked us through the upcoming rapid. Dylan was our guide and he was helpful, fun and knowledgeable. He did an excellent job navigating language barriers of other people in our raft. I've been on four rafting excursions and this one is at the top! There are points where the leader will let you get off and walk if it gets too rough for you. The rapids are intense but do not miss out on this adventure!
I had a wonderful experience. The staff were professional, friendly and attentive. The cold weather gear was provided and I felt warm throughout the journey. The Rangitata river was fantastic, slowly building from grade one to grade five rapids. I highly recommend this company.
We had an amazing day with Rangitata Rafts, we want to do it all over again! James was our guide for the Grade 5 rafting; he was brilliant, made the whole experience so much fun, we felt in very safe hands throughout with him and all the staff. The BBQ and beers afterwards were great too! Highly recommend
Top professional & friendly staff with a overall great true experience of white water rafting. You’ll find it’s not so busy like other global commercial rafting experiences making it a hidden gem to fully immerse yourself with the rapids and scenery.
White water rafting was something I've been interested in doing for a long time. So, when I found that Rangitata Rafts was only an hour away from where we'd be staying in NZ, I jumped at the chance to book a time for my husband and me. But I must say that never having white-water rafted before, this was the thing I was most nervous about. Level-5 rapids...the highest that commercial outfitters are allowed to go down. I didn't take that lightly, and most people I talked to here in the US thought it seemed a little risky. But, this turned out to be one of the best highlights of our entire trip. Dilly (Dillon) was such an amazing guide and for as nervous as I was before the excursion, I was never once afraid on the river. Dilly prepared our group well and he had so much experience and confidence navigating the river that I felt safe under his guidance. And going through the rushing part of the river was so much fun...sometimes I would just find myself laughing as water was gushing all around me. It was exhilarating, fun, challenging, and beautiful! The opportunity to not only see this amazing blue river, but be a part of it for a couple hours is an incredible experience not to be passed up. I'm attaching a few photos and here's what I love about them (go ahead and pre-purchase the photos, you get a discount and you are going to want the memories). Often when we are going through the rapids, Dilly at some point would tell us to "hang on" or "hang on and get down," but while we are hanging on, Dilly was always actively stearing and guiding our little vessel. I also loved the chance we had to swim and float down the river. I thought the BBQ afterwards (sausages, roasted potatoes, cole slaw) was delicious and filling. Amazing guide. Amazing river. Amazing experience.
Our guide was accommodating and very experienced, this was an amazing experience for our group and it's a must do for anyone who wants to try something different. You will get wet but the protective gear provided works very well to keep you warm.
