The Pelorus Bridge Scenic Reserve lies about half way between Nelson and Picton on Highway 6. It's a great place to stop for 15 minutes if you're on a long journey or equally to spend a relaxing few hours. There's ample parking, toilets and a great cafeteria. There are number of walking trails leading from the car park varying from 5-10 minutes all the way to a few hours. Across the road from the car park is a trail that will lead you down to the river with great views of the bridge. The water is pristine clear and has a deep emerald green hue. There are plenty of spots along the river to sit and enjoy the views and safe swimming holes as well.

Stunning part of New Zealand. Beautiful clear water for swimming, walks galore and the famous Pelorus Bridge. There is a cafe and Carpark on one side of the bridge. There are also public toilets on both sides of the road. There are quite a few walks ranging from 15min to 2 hours to the various waterfalls around the place. Some of the shorter walks are pushchair/stroller friendly. There is also a neat suspension bridge that is worth a look

It is a beautiful and magnificent spot with the sunlight glistening and shimmering on the water. The canopy of the ferns and trees makes it magical. It was once going to be a town and instead someone had the good sense to preserve it as a reserve. I was blown away by the sheer beauty of the place.

A good rest spot. You can walk across the bridge which is quite an experience when large semi trucks go over!

Beautiful Unspoiled and Pristine river, winding its way through rock, native bush and countryside. Stunning and also accessible due to well maintained DOC paths and walking tracks. Abundant clean swimming holes. Parking, camping areas and clean toilets. What a gem!

April2021: Stopped to stretch and take in the fresh air. So worth it people. Park in the C/Park and walk back over the bridge, there's a swing Bridge about 10mins in.. OR Stay on the same side of the river and do that track.

Beautiful spot. Nice walk to swingbridge & typical kiwi walk through the forest. Nice cafe there too.

That is an awesome place, found it just by coincidence. Stoped by and did a short dip, great water temperature super refreshing. But beware of these little nasty sand flies, there’re a lot of them!!!
