Our experience this time was great! Two of us wanted to walk on whilst two wanted to remain in the vehicle. The staff in the terminal building kindly gave us blue paddles & altered the ticket to say 2 walk on & 2 in the vehicle. One bloke tried to board the bus with no footwear and was denied entry as it was deemed a health & safety risk to not wear anything on your feet. We like to sit at the tables at the front of the boat and play cards & do the crossword. Food can be purchased - don't go for the scrambled eggs as they taste like they are made from egg powder! The 2pm ferry left at 1.50pm so I guess we didn't have to wait for any trucks. The staff are helpful and friendly. The toilets were clean and had plenty of loo paper. This ferry is wheelchair friendly, though you will need a help to get from the cargo deck into where the lift is because there's a lip between the two areas.

What you would expect for a short logistical service but I was a bit appalled at the large gap between the cabin entry door and the floor. The feeling of privacy feels robbed. However if you are thinking of getting a cabin it is definitely worth the small price for some valuable rest!
We drove up from Invercargill to catch the ferry to Wellington It had been a very rushed and stressful trip, in amongst all the rushing and stress we left our keys in the door while grabbing stuff out of the boot, we rang reception as we were already on the ferry and the lovey receptionist rang straight out to the car, locked it and even locked the steering wheel and brung the keys in! Very thankful!
Such a poorly run operation. Got to the terminal at 12.30am for my 2.15am crossing only to get a text to say it had been cancelled. The ferry had broken down and it needed a new part. Surely that could have been communicated earlier in the day? Say when hotels and motels were open so we could get a bed? No help offered from the staff. We can either sleep on the floor in the terminal or in our cars, which we'd have to move in a few hours for the next sailing. Also, instead of trying to move things around to try and get us home asap the next available sailing isn't until 2 days from now, with no offer of covering accommodation expenses!! I actually can't believe how bad they are
Love the service from Bluebridge (strait shipping) more relaxed and family feel. Recommend to anyone crossing the Cook strait.
Poor experience with Bluebridge, won't be making this mistake twice. I'd pass on some helpful feedback but from reading the existing reviews it seems like you don't listen and have changed nothing.
Was booked on an evening sailing of the Bluebridge that was cancelled due to poor weather and was incredibly dissatisfied with how this was handled. The communication from staff was inconsistent between passengers and not shared effectively or efficiently. We did not receive a text or an email. Simply relied on being in the right place at the right time to hear from staff in person. Also found the nonchalance of the staff telling the drive on passengers very upsetting and unhelpful. When trying to organise a new booking, again communication was unclear which resulted in a stressful and confusing time. Thankfully, the Interislander came to our rescue and the staff handled the influx of Bluebridge customers calmly and efficiently. In future, I will be sailing with the Interislander over Bluebridge.
