We hiked up in December tirohanga trail via mahaukura. 7.5 hours return. No mud at all as it was summer. A hard walk and climb with amazing views at the end. We stayed in the hut and enjoyed the sunset

Awesome walks, tracks in a good condition. Free, makes it even better. Thoroughly enjoyed our walk, Doc have done a great job here.

Awesome tracks, some stairs in the beginning and became rough when reaching the top, we had to walk carefully over the rocks. The temperature was between 10 to 13.c, comfortable for this level of activity. Not too many people at 10am. The view was clear from the Ruapane lookout, almost 360 degrees. Our little boy was 4 years old and did very well. We finished with a picnic in the designated area. Parking is easily found and located at the start of the trails. Worth trying the hardest ones in few years time.

Such an amazing tramp. Even though I went up on a horrible day in July (to the point where it was snowing at around 800m and above) the views were amazing. It's a very adventurous tramp, full of roots and points where you have to climb/abseil chains. Overall I highly recommend the walk, though only for more experienced/fit trampers. A must do if you're in the waikato region.

We walked up from O’Shea road to the viewpoint. The orange triangles were hard to find and lost them at some point. But perseverance and we made it. Took the mahaukura track down which seemed like a nice consistent decline. The chains at the top was amazing fun
