Great views. We luckily found parking near top. Don’t bother with a stroller if you have a little one. The walk path is narrow and there are steps to the top.

Short drive or walk from town. Nice views of surrounding area, with a short steep walk to get to the top.

Amazing views of Whakatāne River mouth and plains. There is a small car park and a few steps to climb but absolutely worth trying!

Excellent view of whakatane and river and bar crossing

Superb views of islands and plains from Whakatāne. It is however a short uphill climb so not ideal if you have issues climbing hills. Route can get mucky when raining but nice all the same!

Another historic site around Whakatane. This lookout was once a Pa site or Maori fortification but these days it's a curated lookout over the whole town and rivermouth. There is a small amount of parking at the bottom of the short track up the hill to the lookout and the large grassy area at the top has been fenced off. The views from the top are well worth the short uphill walk to get there. There's also a slightly longer walkway across the road to another old Pa site - the Papaka redoubt.

Breathtaking views of Whakatane, sunset best time to visit, walk up there is beautiful with enclosure of all that is nature, proper path & steps to climb. Be very romantic spot to picnic with loved ones/one. Highly recommend for everyone to see not just budding photographers or tourists, locals you need to visit, total bliss up here
